African Drumming Courses in Prague

Basic Info:
📍 WHERE: Dancers' Club, Žižkov
- Courses run regularly every week at two levels — intermediate and advanced.
- Each course is divided into 10 weekly cycles, each focusing on one specific African rhythm.
What You'll Learn:
- Playing the djembe (basic strokes: bass, tone, slap). Playing bass drums — open and closed strokes, playing the bell.
- At more advanced levels, you'll also learn soloing technique, building complex rhythmic structures, and deeper understanding of rhythm.
- Continuing cycles require basic technique knowledge — if needed, you can arrange a private lesson or join special workshops offered throughout the year.

SuspendedFor complete beginners — no prior experience needed. The first cycle focuses on the fundamentals of djembe and bass drum playing, and you can join anytime during the first cycle.

For players with mastered basic technique — djembe strokes and bass drum playing. Focused on complex African rhythms, soloing technique, rhythmic structures and their interconnection.

Advanced

For drummers with excellent technique and experience with African rhythms. Playing the most complex repertoire with emphasis on solos, rhythmic layers, and overall deeper understanding of rhythm.
